Okay, I’m free from Nacogdoches, and I just wanted to add a few tips for those left behind, or future travelers.
Pepper Jacks has an awesome falafel gyro! The falafel sauce, (I was assured) is dairy free and has a strong tahini flavor, so I would use sparingly. But this was tasty, really tasty.
And the freshest food I found was at the Cotton Patch. I had veggies that were so brilliant I was temporarily blinded. Like a cave dwelling hermit venturing out on a spring day that vibrates with color and freshness, I was taken aback and slightly frighten about this kind of food in what seemed to me a greasy, fast food town.
